Drinking Water For Your Family!

I recently have been reading so many articles and news clippings on all of the chemicals, pharmaceuticals, metals, and solids that are in our drinking water. I decided to have my water tested, and yes I found that it is full of hardness, iron, metals, etc, and so I knew at that point I must take action.

I had heard many good things about Reverse Osmosis Systems and how they eliminate all the contaminants from our drinking water. So thinking of my family, pets, and plants, I decided to purchase my first RO System. I spoke to several local dealers and even went to the department stores. I found out from neighbors and online forums that the dept. store systems do not last too long it seems compared to dealer systems. I was at church that weekend and ran into a friend of mind who is in the plumbing business and he strongly recommended an online company called Reverse Osmosis Superstore.

I looked online at their products and loved everything I saw. I spoke with the manager there, and he helped me choose the right one for my home/family. The instructions were quite simple, so I took a couple hours on a Saturday and installed it myself. Love the water! Great tasting, super clear ice cubes, much better tasting food, teas, soups, etc. Best investment I could have made for my family and pets.

If you are also looking for good, clean water, I recommend giving them a call.

Law Abiding Citizen Movie Review

Daddy Planet reviews movies from time to time, usually weekly, and this week's movie is Law Abiding Citizen starring Jamie Foxx, and Gerard Butler. The movie is about 2 hours in length, but you are definitely not watching the clock with this movie. Some of the critics gave this movie a poor review, but I am not sure what movie they were watching.

Law Abiding Citizen is full of action, suspense, and a great concept for a movie. Yes it is a little gory at certain points, but not bad at all. If you are looking for a movie that has great acting, a great plot, and full of excitement, definitely take your spouse, date, or friends out to see this movie.

Daddy Planet gives the movie an A-. Look forward to hearing your comments and feedback.

World Series time again!

Wow, we finally got through spring training, the regular season, the playoffs, and now we are ready for the World Series. The New York Yankees versus the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies are looking for their 2nd straight World Series title, and The Yankees, well, their 27th title overall. Both teams are loaded with all-star players, great management, and great fans. It should be a World Series to remember.

So who are you rooting for this year? Personally, I have been a lifelong Yankees fan, and am excited that they finally returned to the WS and am hoping they can win another to keep that Yankee mystique alive. I know everyone says it is the best team that money can buy, and while that is true, baseball has no salary cap, and until that occurs, the Yankees probably always will spend the most money.

Dads everywhere should celebrate America's pasttime with their sons and daughters and enjoy a World Series that will be one to remember, no matter who you are rooting for.

State Fair

Yes it is State Fair time again. Ah the smells of elephant ears, steak sandwiches, deep fried snickers bars, and the taste of that sweet lemonade, that is the state fair. Ok, maybe I forgot the rides, the people watching, the farm animals, the corn on the cob, the turkey leg, and the deep friend coke.

There is a lot to do at the State Fair! I went to the state fair yesterday, beautiful day, but extremely hot, 96 degrees, with little breeze. The one thing that I like about the annual state fair is that is promotes families and family activities. Dads can take the family and kids out to the fair, have some great food, and alot of activities that are centered around the family.

Kids love the state fair. My son is begging us to go back already, and since the fair this year is 17 days long, we promised our son that we will be going back to the fair again before it ends. One piece of advice that I will give other dads, take plenty of water, have your walking shoes on, wear a hat, bring the sunscreen, and make sure your wallet is full of cash.

As Summer is coming to an end, dads take your kids and family to the good ole State Fair, and have a great time!

The Ugly Truth Movie Review

The Ugly Truth Movie Review by Daddy Planet. I took the wife out to see the romantic comedy "The Ugly Truth" this past weekend. The movie is a great date movie, so dads if you are looking for a movie that is perfect for the wifey or the girlfriend, this is it.

The Ugly Truth features Katherine Heigl as a producer of a news network in Sacramento. It is her job to find talent for different program on the network to boost ratings. One talent is hired directly by her manager, whom she despises. The new talent is rude, blatant, and forthcoming on relationships with men and women. The new talent is a big hit on the network. She doesn't believe in his mentality of relationships. However, the new talent and Katherine eventually connect with an odd sort of relationship, but fall in love towards the end of the movie. Sounds predictable? Yes, but not really.

The movie is funny, romantic, and perfect for a date night. Dads will enjoy the movie for the humor and comedy. Let me know what you think of this movie. Thanks.

To Spank or Not to Spank?

Daddy Planet thought we would discuss a hot button topic with dads, spanking. Most surveys show that anywhere between 60-90% of parents spank their children on a regular basis as for misbehavior, depending on which survey.

However, there are still many critics out there who do not believe in any form of punishment for a child's misbehavior, except for a "time-out". A "time-out" is where a child is punished by sitting in their room or a corner without having any activities or playing with their toys. Does this work? Does this provide an education to the child that their misbehavior should not occur again?

Daddy Planet views spanking as a tool that is used as a last resort and to only educate the child when they are misbehaving, and/or misbehaving in a manner that could endanger themselves now or in the future. Spanking is an important educational tool in raising a child in our world today. Spanking is a tool to change a behavior or a mentality that is misguided and headed in the wrong direction. Spanking does work, and to see surveys with high numbers of parents who use spanking as a tool, suggests that parents do see that spanking works and works well.

Who is the disciplinarian in your household? Dad or Mom? Both? We would love to hear your feedback on spanking and other ideas of disciplining children when the behavior is in need of adjustment.

Orphan Movie Review

The "Orphan" movie came out this weekend and finished 4th in weekend sales. However, the "Orphan" might have been the best movie of the weekend. An exciting thriller that kept you on the end of your seat for over two hours.

A traditional family adopted a girl from an orphanage(their 3rd child), the orphan was supposedly a 9 year old girl from Russia who was polite, charming, and very articulate. The girl turned out to be anything but a well behaved 9 year old. In reality she was a terrorizing murderer who was 33 years old and had escaped from a mental institution. She literally put the family through hell and more.

The movie gave us insight into adoption, alcholism, marriage, and how a family connects with a new person coming into the family. Daddy Planet recommends this movie to anyone looking for an exciting, but scary movie that will keep you thinking. Let us know what you think of the movie.
